NEW YORK / RankWire.AI / – Wall Street stocks rebounded on Wednesday, ending a three-session losing streak across the major U.S. indexes. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 295.01 points, or 0.56%, to close at 53,061.89. The S&P 500 rose 35.16 points, or 0.46%, to 7,666.63. The Nasdaq Composite added 118.05 points, or 0.45%, and finished at 26,217.83. The gains recovered part of the losses recorded during the previous three trading sessions.

Wall Street rebounds as the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq return to gains after three losses.

Technology and semiconductor shares were among the strongest contributors to the Wall Street rebound. Nvidia rose 3.2%, while Micron Technology gained 2.4% and Qualcomm advanced 2.0%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index also finished higher after recent weakness in the sector. Small-cap stocks outperformed the larger indexes during the session. The Russell 2000 climbed 1.1%, while advancing stocks outnumbered decliners on both the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq.

Corporate earnings and company updates also drove several large individual stock moves. Dell Technologies jumped 15.8% after raising its annual revenue and profit forecasts. Brown-Forman gained 3.9% after reporting quarterly profit above expectations. Uber Technologies rose 1.6% after announcing plans to reduce its workforce by about 10%. Materials recorded the strongest percentage gain among the S&P 500’s 11 major sectors. Real estate was the only major sector to finish lower.

    Technology shares lead market rebound

The rebound came as U.S. Treasury yields eased slightly from recent multi-year highs. The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield slipped to about 4.79% after reaching 4.818% earlier in the session. Higher government bond yields had pressured equity markets during the preceding sessions. Investors were also monitoring inflation, government debt and elevated energy prices. Brent crude settled 1% higher at $95.63 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rose 0.9% to $91.01.

Labor market data added another major economic signal during Wednesday’s session. ADP reported that U.S. private employers added 38,000 jobs in August, the slowest pace since January. The July increase was revised upward to 46,000 jobs. Manufacturing lost 17,000 positions, while professional and business services lost 16,000. Education and health services added 45,000 jobs. ADP also reported that base pay for all private-sector workers increased 3.2% from a year earlier.

Treasury yields and jobs data remain in focus

The Federal Reserve remained central to market attention as traders assessed economic data before its September policy meeting. The central bank has kept its benchmark interest rate in a 3.50% to 3.75% range since December 2025. Treasury yields had risen sharply before Wednesday’s modest pullback. The 10-year yield had reached its highest level since November 2023 earlier in the session. Investors were also preparing for additional employment and inflation figures scheduled before the Federal Reserve meeting.

Market breadth was positive at Wednesday’s close, reinforcing the broad nature of the session’s rebound. Advancing stocks led decliners by a 1.78-to-1 ratio on the New York Stock Exchange. On Nasdaq, 3,102 stocks advanced while 1,679 declined. The S&P 500 recorded 12 new 52-week highs and 10 new lows. The Nasdaq Composite posted 58 new highs and 135 new lows. Despite Wednesday’s gains, the major U.S. indexes remained below their levels at the start of the week.
